Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best moment to install Goberco's Under Deck Drainage System?
The best moment to install our Under Deck Drainage System is when you build your deck: see on top of joist installation. The reason for this is that when you build your deck you can easily slope your joists (between 1/8'' to 1/4'' per foot meaning 1'' drop on a 8' long joist). This way, the water will easily drain and the drainage system will protect your joists and your deck structure. You can also have flat joists then create the water-evacuation slope with the membrane.
On existing deck you can install our product under the joists or between the joists.
Where to buy the gutter downspout and the self sealing tape?
You can buy the gutter downspout at most building material supplier, usually plastic gutter downspout are 2'' x 3'' x 10' long that you will cut enough long to enter into the gutter (see picture below). This will reduce a lot risk of leaks. Most self sealing tape for joist protection will stick well on our membrane.
Why the membrane is creating waves, will they dissapear ?
This is important to let membrane expand in the sun before to staple on top of joists. If you install the membrane on cloudy morning then sun hit the membrane it can create waves. Most waves will dissapear after heavy rains but you can also load the membrane with logs/bricks...then waves will dissapear.
If my joists are leveled, can I create the water-evacuation slope with the membrane?
Yes you can create the slope with the membrane. When stapled flush to outer sides of the joists the valley created with our membrane is 3.5'' deep, so you can staple the membrane flush to the first joist outer sides then nearby house have the membrane expand the second joist to create a less deep valley which will create the slope (between 1% to 2%).
Where can we buy your product, do you have any distributor?
You can buy on amazon.com (usa) , amazon.ca (canada) , direct from Goberco or at Canac and Kent in Canada
